YAML Frontmatter Requirements

Every skill must include YAML frontmatter at the top of SKILL.md with the following required fields:

  • name: Unique identifier for your skill in kebab-case (e.g., markdown-optimizer)
  • description: Clear, concise description of what your skill does and when Claude should use it
  • version: Semantic version number (e.g., 1.0.0) following SemVer format
    • MAJOR version for incompatible changes
    • MINOR version for backwards-compatible functionality additions
    • PATCH version for backwards-compatible bug fixes
